In the last 2 years CJ:

  • Introduced HB 357 to protect the Kuskokwim river.
  • Co-sponsored HB 62 extending the Renewable Energy Grant Fund (REF) to 2033.
  • Introduced an Amendment to fully fund the Renewable Energy Grant Fund (REF) that would have funded renewable energy projects in District 38 and all of Rural Alaska.
  • Opposed State 404 Primacy

Access to subsistence foods depends on a healthy environment. If the State Legislature does not function with good environmental stewardship, they do not support subsistence.

The YK Delta is currently living in the climate change crisis. Our communities are being forced to relocate and change lifestyles due to climate change. The Legislature needs to take action to meaningfully address this crisis.

CJ has supported, and will continue to support renewable energy projects both as a means to protect the environment and as a way to promote greater energy independence, and lower costs in communities.

CJ does not support mining or any other development projects that put our environment at risk. He does not support Donlin Gold Mine, Pebble Mine or any project that poses a threat to our water and environment.

Our future is depending on us to make the right choices now.
